CAHN gains a significant advantage in the V.League championship race

Ninh Bình will be without their key forward Geovane Magno when hosting Công An Hà Nội in round 16 of V.League 1 2025/26 due to a suspension from accumulated yellow cards.

According to VPF regulations, a player is suspended for one match after receiving three yellow cards. Geovane has been cautioned consecutively in Ninh Bình's recent three rounds, in matches against Hoàng Anh Gia Lai, Thép Xanh Nam Định, and SHB Đà Nẵng. Therefore, the Brazilian striker will be absent in the next round when Ninh Bình hosts CAHN at home on March 14.

Geovane's absence poses significant challenges for Ninh Bình's attack. The forward born in 1994 is considered one of the most crucial elements in the team's offensive front, with his ability to create breakthroughs and his experience playing in V-League.

With Geovane absent, Ninh Bình likely has only two foreign attacking options left. Gustavo Henrique is in the process of regaining his scoring form after a slump, while Fred Friday has not fully integrated into the team's overall play since joining. This makes Ninh Bình's attacking strategy ahead of the match against CAHN more difficult than ever.

In the first-leg match between the two teams at Hàng Đẫy Stadium, Geovane left a strong impression by scoring the opening goal very early for Ninh Bình. In just the 2nd minute, the Brazilian forward finished with a one-touch shot following a teammate's cross, leaving goalkeeper Filip Nguyễn unable to react. However, despite a favorable start, Ninh Bình still lost 2-3 after CAHN's comeback.

In that match, Alan Grafite shone with a hat-trick helping the police department team reverse the situation. Additionally, Ninh Bình faced a major disadvantage when Dụng Quang Nho received a direct red card, forcing the visiting team to play with fewer players for most of the remaining match time. Despite great effort in the second half and scoring another goal to narrow the gap, Ninh Bình could not avoid defeat.

That 3-2 victory helped CAHN climb to the top of the standings and ended Ninh Bình's 11-match unbeaten streak in V-League. Therefore, the upcoming rematch between the two teams continues to be regarded as the focal match of the round.
