Yamal shines, Barcelona secures a narrow victory over Bilbao to strengthen their lead in La Liga.

Barcelona secured a 1-0 victory at Athletic Bilbao in the 27th round of La Liga through the only goal scored by Lamine Yamal, reinforcing their lead in the standings.

This marks only the third win for the Catalan team in their last eight visits to the "cauldron" San Mamés, where they have frequently encountered difficulties in recent seasons.

The match began at a very high tempo. In the 20th second, Portuguese wing-back João Cancelo nearly created an unbelievable moment when his cross inadvertently struck the crossbar of the visitors' goal. Shortly afterward, the skill of the 16-year-old prodigy Lamine Yamal combined with a touch from Ferran Torres almost forced defender Andoni Gorosabel into an awkward own goal situation.

By the 10th minute, the home team suffered a significant setback as midfielder Unai Gómez sustained a rather serious knee injury and had to leave the field, replaced by Robert Navarro. This injury somewhat disrupted Athletic's rhythm and allowed Barcelona to gradually take control of the game.

The turning point of the match came from Yamal's brilliant moment in the 68th minute. Despite being relatively quiet for most of the game, Barcelona's young talent unleashed a beautiful curling shot that flew straight into the top corner of the goal, scoring the only goal of the match.

In the final minutes, Athletic pushed forward aggressively seeking an equalizer, but goalkeeper Joan García performed excellently with several crucial saves.

Ultimately, Barcelona maintained a narrow 1-0 victory, thereby extending their streak of six unbeaten matches against Athletic, including five consecutive clean sheets. For the Basque team, this defeat keeps them five points behind the European qualification group.
